Head Coach: Richard Schwartz
Assistant Coaches:
Practice Times: Wednesdays 5:30-7:30, Saturdays 9:30-11:00am
Practice Location: TBD
3rd-4th Grade Boys Rules:
Number of Players on field: EIGHT: 1- Goalie, 2 Defensemen, 2 Attackmen, 3 Midfielders Length of Games: Two 24 minute running clock halves with a 5 minute halftime. The horn will be blown every 4 minutes to signalize substitutions of players. Body Contact: Incidental contact is allowed, however the players must be playing the ball at all times, there is no “man-ball” or take-out body checks allowed under any circumstance. Referees will enforce this rule with a Personal Penalty for the offending player (described below) and their call will be final. Definition of checks: Checks in which the player lowers his head or shoulder with the force and intent to take out (put on the ground) the other player. Players may make contact in an upright position within five years of the ball. Pads Required: All pads, except rib pads (which are optional), including mouth piece are required by every player on the teams. Time Out: Each coach is allowed one time per half, which will be 30 seconds. (Clock does not stop during time outs). No time outs in the last two (2) minutes of each half. Stick Size: All stick heads should be regulation size; sticks should be 36 to 40 inches in length (from head to butt). No defensives will be used. Officials: Two (2) per game; must be certified. GAME PLAY: Game will begin with a face-off at the midfield line by the midfielders. Defensemen, Attackmen, and Goalies will remain in their respective box areas until possession is called by the officials. There is a one pass rule into the offensive zone to avoid fast break situations unless both coaches agree to dismiss it. However, if there is a loose ball in one of the offensive zones after the pass has been made or attempted (the pass does not have to be caught), and the team that regains possession is the offensive team (ie, in their offensive zone already), the one pass rule does not apply; they can go right to the cage. “Offensive zone” is defined as being inside the restraining line; if they are outside of the offensive zone, then the one pass rule applies. In any case, a whistle or a change of position resets the requirement for the one pass. No penalties are served by players. Technical Penalties will result in change of possession of the ball. Personal Penalties (flagrant fouls) will result in the offending player being substituted along with a change in possession. The horn will sound every four minutes to signal substitution of lines. Please have your players hustle on and off the field during substitution as the clock does not stop. The only time the clock will stop is if there is a injury on the field. A team scores when the ball crosses the plane of the face of the goal. No score is kept in the game, but if it is recognized that one team is dominating the game (resulting in a lead of 4 or more goals) there will be no face off and the down team will receive the ball at the midfield line. "Swarm rule" The officials call "play on" if the ball is on the ground in a "swarm” (6-8 players). If no possession is gained after 2-3 seconds, they blow the whistle and award the ball by alternate possession. Players will line up to shake hands of the opposing team after the game. The Home team is responsible for person to run the time clock and air horn. The Home team is also responsible for marking the field (with cones at a minimum).
